Mexico Border Ministries:
Information & Opportunities

5:30 p.m., Monday, June 24 - St. James Church, New London

Dear Friends at Calvary Church,

The images that we see from life along our border with Mexico evoke a range of responses, and often a desire to do something. A group in St. James’, New London has recently heard first-hand accounts, and has received a list of different agencies and groups ministering along the border.

You are invited to come learn more about their findings on Monday, June 24th at 5:30pm at St. James: 76 Federal St., New London. We hope to have recent visitors to the border present as well. Whether or not you can attend, we ask your prayers and thoughtful participation in how God is calling us to respond as people who bear witness to the love of God for all.

Thank you,

Rachel Thomas,
Southeast Region Missionary

Mapping Stonington

Boro map.jpg

Forum, Sunday, May 19
with
The Rev. Rachel Thomas, Southeast Region Missionary

Dear Calvary friends,

I would love to meet with any and all Calvary parishioners between the 8am and 10am times of worship on May 19th, to have your insights on “mapping” Stonington.

Maybe you live in town. You can readily name places that bring you joy (for whatever reason) and places that break your heart. If you don’t live in town: well, you do come to Calvary to worship, and in the process you pass places that catch your attention. And you’re likely to have heard at least a bit of what goes on in town.

I’ll bring a map. We’ll mark these places of joy and sadness on the map. And then we’ll take a moment to consider what God’s Spirit might be suggesting about Calvary’s call to be a light of the Good News in Stonington.

I hope you’ll be willing to explore your relationship with this town. I’ve done this in other parishes and found it to be enlightening and even fun.

Sincerely,
The Rev. Rachel Thomas

FRIDAY - MAY 10
7:30 p.m.

The McIvor Organ Distinguished Artist Series

at Calvary Church, Stonington

On Friday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m., Calvary Church will inaugurate a new organ recital series featuring the world's most renowned artists! To inaugurate the series, Calvary has invited one of America's brightest stars, Nathan Laube, Professor of Organ at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Nathan has taken the national and international organ scenes by storm, succeeding in ways far beyond his years. His technical and musical prowess is simply astonishing. Our chapter board has generously agreed to partner with Calvary in bringing Nathan to our area. So, the event is also an AGO event! What a joy it will be to welcome Nathan here!

Understandably, many, many persons will want to attend the concert. So, before the word spreads far and wide, we'll need to get our own seats reserved. The event is free to the public, with free-will offerings gladly accepted. Tickets will not be sold, but we will take seating reservations. It would be a shame for any of us to be turned away, so please, call (860 535-1181) or email (communications@calvarychurchstonington.org) the Calvary church office and get your seats reserved immediately.
