PASTORAL PRAYER & CARE

NOTICES FROM THE MISSIONARIES:

FROZEN ASSETS NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Our Frozen Assets are running low. For those of you unfamiliar with this ministry, we freeze soups, entrees and desserts and deliver them when a parish member can use them. This could be after surgery or during an illness or after a new baby is born, etc. Sometimes there's no dramatic reason and it's just nice to have someone else do the cooking. All foods are labeled with a list of their ingredients.

The empty containers are in the Parish House in a cupboard that's against the wall in front of you as you enter the room. You can put your filled containers in the freezer in the Parish House kitchen and simply let me, Jean Baur, know they're there. I then store them in the big freezer in the basement and deliver them as needed. If you have any questions, please email me at JeanBaur@yahoo.com or call my cell: 215-595-3277. A big thanks to all the wonderful cooks out there. P.S. The food doesn't have to be homemade!

The pastoral care team reaches out to our parishioners who are house bound, in the hospital, in an assisted living facility or are just not able to be present at worship. From these visits the volunteers see what additional ministries are needed and appropriate. Please contact our church office or Barbara Loftus to arrange a visit.

Other Ministries currently under Pastoral Prayer and Care include:

COMMUNICATION (calls, notes and cards)
co-led by Joan Mills

Hand written cards offering prayers and comforting words for many occasions including Easter and Christmas; to those who are ill, grieving, celebrating baptisms, graduations, special birthdays and any other need that comes our way. We pray to a merciful God.

EUCHARISTIC VISITORS
coordinators, Susan Ayers and Ellen McCollum

Visitors give the Holy Sacrament to parishioners in their homes, in nursing homes, and in retirement communities. Compassionate reaching out to our parishioners who are not able to be present at Calvary completes the Service. Offered on the first and third Sundays of the month.

PRAYERS SHAWL MAKERS
co-led by Stevie Champion & Kitsie Cooke

Volunteers knit or crochet standard-sized prayers shawls, mini (pocket) prayer shawls, and lap robes for people of all ages with special needs both within and outside our congregation. Knitters meet in the Sacristy at 12:30 on the fourth Friday of most months.

FROZEN ASSETS
contact Jean Baur

Through theFrozen Asset Ministry, parishioners prepare "nourishment for body and soul" to share with church members when a need for a nutritional and spiritual hug is just the way to offer friendly support at a difficult time. Jean Baur provides labeled containers and suggestions for suitable contributions.

HYMN-SING at Royal Westerly Nursing Home
contact Joan Wesley and Susan Ayers

A team of volunteers offer Hymns, prayers sung to music, to residents - many of whom are memory impaired. This healing balm of music touches the hearts of all who are there. Offered on the first and third Mondays of the month.

THERAPY DOGS
contact Jean Baur and Deb Burgess

Jean and Deb with their therapy dogs Rudy and Ethel work as a team offering joy, comfort, reassurance and encouragement to patients in hospitals and nursing homes, and residents in retirement homes. Parishioners can request a pet therapy visit. Jean Baur 215-595
