Notes from Calvary

(The Notes are not going on August hiatus after all: the rest of the staff is pitching in to get them so everybody can know about all that's going on !)

Calvary folks--

I am looking forward to welcoming you to the rectory porch and back lawn this Thursday evening, for the last of the summer Porch Parties sponsored by the Stewardship Committee. Details are below.

I know renovating the rectory during the interim period required much work and expense, and various ministries which had been meeting in Calvary House had to shift to new spaces. Kudos to all of you for making those changes. Few clergy of my generation or younger can afford real estate costs in expensive areas, so rectories are once again an important resource for churches.

The house is now a lovely and comfortable home. I'm enjoying arranging my books and furnishings, and Roxy-cat has established her rotation of favorite sunning and napping spots. We both love the views and the scents of the sea. Thank you.

From the Junior Warden: Audio/Visual Upgrades

We have completed Phase I of the audio / visual upgrades. We have upgraded the old amplifier / mixer system, added more speakers to generate a more uniform sound and replaced all the old microphones. You should begin to notice the difference in the quality and volume of sound as well as eliminating the previous static often heard.

Any feedback is welcomed as some adjustments can be made. We hope to begin discussions on Phase II which will involve a video upgrade that may allow us to live stream and archive services as well as improve connectivity to the parish hall for those instances where we have overflow attendance. I will keep you all informed of our plans.
