Dear Members and Friends of Calvary,

As we approach the summer solstice, we also begin that time of year when the choir takes a well-deserved break and Sunday school is on vacation. Some familiar faces find other places to attend worship and enjoy. Other familiar folks return for the season.

While these natural Stonington rhythms carry on, so too does our Sunday morning way of praise, prayer, thanksgiving and celebration.

At both 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on the first day of the week, people of Calvary and our welcome summer guests will gather at our church by the sea.

It will be my privilege to be with you through the week following my last Sunday as your Interim Priest-in-Charge, July 7.

The rest of the Sundays in July will be led by visiting priests or by Alice Despard, who will officiate at Morning Prayer on July 28.

The Rev. Gillian Barr will begin her ministry as Calvary’s next Rector on August 1, preaching and celebrating for the first time on August 4.

Congratulations again to the leadership at Calvary for the hard work and faithful discernment leading up to successful call of a new ordained leader. Congratulations also too Gillian as she prepares to launch a blessed season of ministry at this vital and gifted parish.

Many blessings,
Norman

Calvary's First Porch Party

Kip Colligan and Tiffany Hendry welcomed more than 50 guests to Calvary's June 14 Porch Party. The casually festive event was the first in a series sponsored by the Stewardship committee as social occasions for members of the church.

A good time was had by all. The snacks were delicious, the weather was beautiful and the view of Stonington as the sun set was spectacular.

Mexico Border Ministries:
Information & Opportunities

5:30 p.m., Monday, June 24 - St. James Church, New London

Dear Friends at Calvary Church,

The images that we see from life along our border with Mexico evoke a range of responses, and often a desire to do something. A group in St. James’, New London has recently heard first-hand accounts, and has received a list of different agencies and groups ministering along the border.

You are invited to come learn more about their findings on Monday, June 24th at 5:30pm at St. James: 76 Federal St., New London. We hope to have recent visitors to the border present as well. Whether or not you can attend, we ask your prayers and thoughtful participation in how God is calling us to respond as people who bear witness to the love of God for all.

Thank you,

Rachel Thomas,
Southeast Region Missionary
